ARTBnk Value reflects the current fair market value of a tradeable work of art. The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), defines fair market value as, “the price at which property would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller, neither being under any compulsion to buy or to sell and both having reasonable knowledge of the relevant facts.”
As with any market sale, fair market value does not include additional transaction costs such as advisor fees, sales or VAT taxes, nor does it take into account the premium or discount a motivated buyer or seller may be willing to pay or to forego. Put simply, an ARTBnk Value provides an objective measure of the current underlying value of a tradeable work of art, treating works of art like any other valuable asset class.
